For the purpose of this site, you should look at me as a marketer. I market my own products, I market other people’s products. I even promote some products that I will never see a dime on. The reason is simple, I want to show-off the best stuff out there.
My main concentration is webmastering and technology. But I will also throw in some art info, gizmo news, music observations and movie references once this journal gets going.
I am a webmaster, a hostmaster, a reseller, an affiliate, an artist, a promoter, a marketer.
Whether it be a domain registrations, website design, web hosting, search optimization, promotion, press releases or marketing, I have done it. I also do logo design, graphics, illustrations and art. Mainly, because I wanted to know how to design top notch websites since I started doing it in 1996.
Twenty years later, I have learned quite a lot. I started quite a few blogs in the past, but WordPress.com became corrupted with advertising, Tumblr is a bit too wild for a business related journal, and I have a few issues with how Google conducts business. So I setup this dedicated WordPress site and journal on my Domain Hostmaster account to circumvent the others and just write what I want, promote my stuff and the other things I believe in.
While this will have a webmaster slant, its really going to run the gamut. For instance, I believe in promotion (telling everyone out there about yourself, that you are available and where, and what you offer), but I don’t believe in blatant advertising for the sake of promotion. Instead, I believe in marketing with a twist… I believe in honesty.
Most advertising is a pack of lies. The restraints in advertising are being tested constantly. I do not believe in dumb commercials that a kid might emulate and wind-up getting hurt. Sure, stupid stuff is funny, but we haven’t atoned for the children in our society who see absolutely everything. Blame who you want, we are a disgraceful society, nonetheless. But in particular, truth in advertising has taken a great hit. Everyone is declaring they are the best, no one backs it up. Pay someone enough, and they will find an award for you.
I look at it as giving back. At the same time, you could look at this as total hogwash. I am going to be, after all, promoting my products and services, or stuff that I might make a commission on. Well, yeah. But I will do it honestly and readers will hear some negative aspects about my own stuff, as well.
As a for-instance, I am associated as a reseller for at least three major hosting network systems. I may add more if I find a new need for something not covered by one of those three. I’m going to be honest about the strengths and weaknesses of each program.
But like I said, I like to write. Some might see it as, I like to complain. Well, I can’t understand certain things, like how a computer can’t be repaired without a tech because certain brands of laptop parts are not available to the public. I have never owned a single 7″ or larger Android based tablet that has made it all the way to warranty. I haven’t had any of the new HDD drives (over 640GB) make it the full warranty period, either.
So I will be griping about stuff in my own life, it is my blog. I will be recommending things that I like or that work well. I will be arguing user interface issues and declaring why I see the lack of forethought in simple things like a television remote as a sign of lack of integrity. I will be making a case for the USA’s need to advance our education system.
I’m not going to be using this blog strictly for business. It will be, in fact, a long needed outlet for me to write about all sorts of stuff. Some of that will be good things, some might seem like a bit of a rant, but that’s how I am at this stage of the game, I guess, a little cantankerous.
You will see Domain Hostmaster promotions here. But you will see Domainance.com and HD Web Hosting promotions as I write about them, as well.
